1. How much does it cost to drill a water well?

We specialize in drilling deep, community-capacity water wells that are up to 200 meters into the surface of the earth. WorldServe owns and operates all its own deep well drilling rigs. A typical well costs between USD $15,000 and $25,000.

The well cost includes a hydrogeological survey, mobilization, drilling, installation, casing, water testing and water pump installation.

Again, these are deep capacity water wells that provide a long-term source of water for an entire community (3,000 – 5,000 people).

With each well, we also hope to install a windmill to pump the water in an eco-friendly, sustainable way. The cost of a windmill is $10,000 USD.

2. How can $5 provide clean water for someone for 20 years?

A typical WorldServe well costs between USD $15,000 and $25,000. It can last for decades, but we conservatively plan it lasting for 20 years. Typically, each of our well projects can serve between 3,000 to 5,000 people in the community. So, for example a $25,000 well divided by 5,000 people, served for 20 years by the well = $5 provides clean water for one person for 20 years.

Since we are providing a long-term solution for access to clean water, the costs are very low per person. You can make a tremendous difference! Please consider making a donation today.

3. What percentage of WorldServe’s money goes to administration, and what percentage goes to programs?

WorldServe strives to keep costs at a minimum, while maximizing every dollar we receive for aid and development work.

4. Can I volunteer for WorldServe International in a developing country?

Unfortunately, WorldServe is not currently set up to coordinate volunteer work or project visits in developing countries. We do not have the staff or resources to handle this.

However exceptions can be made for various reasons, such as a church or civic club group that would like to raise their own travel funds for a short-term mission trip or a business leader who would like to see investment opportunities.

If you’re interested in serving or visiting a project, please contact us using this online form. If there’s a way for us to coordinate your trip, we will let you know about the opportunities! Thank you for being so generous with your time and talents.
