Eagles Sam Bradford presented $25,000 by CARDONE Industries to support Waterboys

Donation will help Bradford bring clean water to thousands of people in East Africa

PHILADELPHIA, PA. – The Chris Long Foundation announced today that Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Sam Bradford was awarded a $25,000 donation by CARDONE Industries to benefit the foundation’s signature program, the Waterboys Initiative. Bradford is one of 22 NFL player representatives, or “Waterboys,” that are working to raise money to build clean water wells in East Africa through the program. CARDONE presented Bradford with the donation today at
their headquarters in Philadelphia, to help construct a well in Tanzania in the Eagles’ name.

“We are extremely grateful for this generous contribution from CARDONE Industries towards Waterboys,” said founder Chris Long. “It truly special to have a homegrown Philadelphia company step up to support Sam’s efforts to change the lives of thousands. This is what we hoped for when we began this journey last August. To join together fans, NFL stars and corporate partners to maximize the impact we can have on the clean water crisis.”

Each sustainable well constructed through Waterboys costs $45,000 and provides water for communities of 5,000 to 7,500 people. The contribution from CARDONE marks the largest donation to date by any corporate sponsor for Waterboys. Bradford and the Eagles are now at the top of the “Waterboys” leaderboard with $33,028 raised to date in the competition to be the first “Waterboy” to reach the $45,000 goal.

Waterboys got its start during a 2013 trip by Long to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro. Long was struck by the beauty of Tanzania and the vibrancy of its people, but also witnessed great suffering due to a lack of clean water.
