The need for clean water

Every day, 4500 children die from a lack of clean water. In most parts of the developed world, one can turn on the tap and drink water without the fear of consuming a deadly virus or parasite. In East Africa cholera, typhoid, and other harmful pathogens abound. In recent years, East Africa has also experienced incredible drought. Tens of thousands of people died.

According to the United Nations, drought caused more deaths during the last century than any other natural disaster, and Asia and Africa rank first among continents in the number of people directly affected.
