Marketing Team Overview

Our internship program is currently closed, however we do plan on reopening the program in the future.

Our goal at WorldServe is to create an intern team that values growth and development in the Marketing field. When you walk away from a semester working with WorldServe, we hope you are prepared with portfolio building experience, leadership knowledge and a deeper understanding of how to communicate in a professional, non-profit setting.

What to Expect:

  • Project Ownership – Every trimester, each intern will walk away having contributed and completed at least 1 major project. (Trip building, program creation, branded campaigns)
  • Quantifiable Results Each intern will be able to report development results in a tangible way to be used for building personal portfolios and valuable experience for future job searches.

Intern Candidates Should Possess the Following Characteristics:

  • Commitment to Humanitarian Efforts – Working for a non-profit requires a motivation to help others with your life’s work and a commitment to changing the world one person at a time! This can be different from other professional environments and should be fully considered by the applicant.
  • Self-Starting & Self-Propelling – Team members will work remotely for 7-10 hours per week to complete project tasks, administrative help, team meetings, and progress reporting. Team meetings are likely to happen in coffee shops, Google Hangouts or conference calls.
  • Team Player – Intern team members will work closely with the Marketing Director and other interns to complete each project and should feel comfortable working alongside other people and helping other team members to reach the ultimate project goals. Communication on project management software, through email and phone calls will be an important part of working remotely with a team.
  • Dedicated, Timely, and Leadership-Focused – As a part of the intern team, you will collaborate with the Marketing Director in many stages of marketing campaigns and event development. Your insightful contribution will help develop, expand and maintain our communication goals at WorldServe.

Internship Term:  January 27 – May 8, 2020

Location: Springfield, MO – Remote connection using Google Hangouts, scheduled conference calls and possible team meetings in determined location if applicable.

Compensation: Stipend Pending; WorldServe is happy to work with your university to give you credit hours for this internship.

Tanzania Water Fund

The Tanzania Water Fund is based in Phoenix Arizona and has been funding wells in Singida, Tanzania for over 15 years.  Ten years ago, TWF and WorldServe forged a partnership for mutual funding of water projects in this region because of the severity of the need for clean water.  Since then, TWF has partnered on over 35 clean water projects and intends to continue partnering with us to accomplish its mission: to solve the water problem in Singida by seeing that a deep well, power source and storage tank is provided to each village in the district. Dean Riesen, Chairman of Tanzania Water Fund, also serves as a board member of WorldServe International.

Graphic  Design Intern

Graphic Design Intern Responsibilities Include:

  • Conceptualize & sketch visuals based on design briefs provided by the Marketing Director
  • Execute designs for print and digital venues including but not limited to, brochures, posters, banners, emails, web pages, social media, and brand merchandise like t-shirts or other small gifts
  • Communicate with the internship team to stay on target with design goals and project objectives

Internship Brief

WorldServe is looking for an intern to assist in graphic design by creating engaging and on-brand graphics for a variety of media. This internship is guaranteed to provide valuable experience and portfolio building projects through engaging the intern in the process of defining design requirements, visualizing, sketching and creating graphics including illustrations, infographics, logos, web layouts, visual reports, and photography. Working directly with the Marketing Director, you will be a part of creating and re-designing visual aspects of our website, event materials, and potential product development.

Our goal as a brand is to make sure that our graphics capture the attention of those current and potential donors and to communicate each message clearly. You should have a creative flair, modern and clean style, with a strong ability to translate requirements into design. If you can communicate well and work methodically as part of a team, we’d like to meet you!

Responsibilities

  • Conceptualize visuals based on requirements
  • Prepare rough drafts and present ideas
  • Develop illustrations, layouts and other designs using design software, preferably Adobe
  • Stay on brand, using the appropriate colors and brand requirements
  • Work with copywriters and marketing director to produce the final design
  • Amend designs after feedback

Requirements

  • Enrollment in a bachelor’s degree program required, working toward a design degree or related field
  • A strong portfolio of illustrations or other graphics
    Familiarity with design software (such as InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work methodically and remotely, as well as meet a deadline

Social Media Intern

Social Media Coordinator Responsibilities Include:

  • Researching influencer campaigns, audience preferences, and current trends for individual platforms
  • Planning engaging text, image, and potential video content while working with the intern team
  • Designing posts to sustain readers’ curiosity and creating buzz around campaigns

Internship Brief

WorldServe is looking for an intern to assist in social media planning and execution in order to create and maintain a strong online presence for our brand. This internship will provide valuable experience and portfolio building projects through engaging the intern in the process of implementing online marketing strategies through our social media accounts.

Our goal as a brand is to make sure that our social media content captures the attention of current and potential donors, as well as communicates each message clearly and cohesively across different platforms. If you are a creative, driven professional with an interest in communicating with donors through online channels, we would like to meet you!

Responsibilities

  • Research audience preferences and discover current trends
  • Create engaging text, image and video content from our current library of photography and video
  • Design posts to sustain readers’ curiosity and create buzz around campaigns or current initiatives
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in all social platforms ensuring maximum effectiveness
  • Develop an optimal posting schedule, considering overall brand goals and audience retention
  • Suggest new ways to attract prospective donors and social media influencers to the WorldServe brand

Requirements

  • Enrollment in a bachelor’s degree program required, working toward a design degree or related field
  • Familiarity and passion for social media as a professional tool
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to deliver creative content (text, image and video)
  • Familiarity with online marketing strategies and marketing channels, specifically Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and Youtube
  • Ability to work methodically and remotely, as well as meet deadlines

Content Development Intern

Content Development Intern Responsibilities Include:

  • Writing and proofreading donor letters and updates
  • Creating promotional text for online ads, banners, brochures and social networks
  • Conducting basic SEO and keyword research

Internship Brief

WorldServe is looking for an intern to assist in content development who will work closely with our Marketing Director to write engaging marketing. This internship will provide valuable experience and portfolio building projects through engaging the intern in the process of SEO and keyword research, updating website page copy and writing the promotional text for digital and print marketing endeavors.

Our goal as a brand is to make sure that our marketing content captures the attention of current and potential donors, as well as communicates each message clearly. You should have a creative flair and the ability to write in a professional tone while communicating to a broad range of audiences. If you can communicate well and work methodically as part of a team, we’d like to meet you!

Responsibilities

  • Write and proofread donor letters, thank you’s, email marketing and operations updates
  • Create promotional text for online ads, banners, brochures, and social networks
  • Conduct basic keyword research
  • Submit well-structured drafts to Marketing Director within deadlines
  • Work with intern team members to produce final projects as directed by the Marketing Director
  • Implement SEO practices to increase website visibility
  • Ask relevant questions to learn the heart of each message you are asked to communicate

Requirements

  • Enrollment in a bachelor’s degree program required, working toward a communication degree or related field
  • Copywriting samples; even if not professionally created
  • Excellent writing and editing skills in English
  • Ability to work methodically and remotely, as well as meet a deadline
  • Basic knowledge of SEO and keyword research tools (e.g. Google Keyword Planner and Moz)
  • Familiarity with social media for business
